Mexicana Mushrooms (Psilocybe Mexicana, a.k.a. Mexicana Cubensis) are by far the most well known and well loved magic mushrooms of all the Psilocybe Cubensis strains.

Considered the original forefather of all modern day use of magic mushrooms. After all, it was Mexicana Cubensis that Albert Hoffman used to cultivate and isolate psilocybin and psilocin for the first time in a lab.

Mexicana’s pedigree does not stop there. The history of this strain of magic mushrooms is a lot older than Albert Hoffman’s lab work.

For literally thousands of years indigenous cultures of Central and South America used this magic mushroom as a sacred plant for medicinal and religious purposes. It is believed to be one and the same as what the Aztec called “Teonanacatl”, which literally translates to “Flesh of the Gods.”

Today in Mexico this magic mushroom strain is often called “los Pajaritos” meaning “little birdie” due to the fact they pack such a potent experience into a tiny innocent looking mushroom. Furthermore, because they look a lot like Liberty Caps, the pioneering mycologist and psychonaut, Paul Stamets is currently calling them “Mexican Liberty Caps.”

Because their psychedelic effects are less intense than most of the other newer Psilocybe Cubensis strains, Mexicana mushrooms are a very good choice for new users of magic mushrooms. Don’t worry, you will experience deep feelings of joy and euphoria, and probably bust a gut laughing at the fact you’re laughing (that’s always fun!); however, most users won’t experience the crazy visual psychedelic hallucinations that other magic mushroom strains regularly deliver.
